Project: Risk assessment of antimicrobial agent use in aquaculture.
- project duration
- 01-JAN-97 – 31-DEC-99
- The primary objective of this work is to increase our understanding of the population ecology of plasmids encoding antimicrobial resistance genes. By studying two discrete bacterial groups, i.e. mesophilic aeromonads and total heterotrophs, a model will be constructed to provide an estimate of the impact of antimicrobial agent use in aquaculture on the use of these agents in human medicine.
