Project: Analysis of central and peripheral functions of leptin

01-JAN-06 – 31-DEC-09

The cytokine-type hormone leptin functions as an adipostat that signals the energy status of the body to the brain. It also exerts a regulatory role on several peripheral tissues, influencing immune responses and angiogenesis. This program includes following studies: (1) mechanism of signal transduction in hypothalamic neurons, (2) effect of leptin antagonists in in vivo models for autoimmune diseases, (3) transport of leptin across the blood-brain barrier.
