Project: Numerical simulation of flame spread through the coupling of time-accurate flow calculations to pyrolysis modelling

- The spread of a developing fire is simulated through the coupling of pyrolysis modelling (i.e. the degradation of solid material and release of combustible gases) to calculations in the gas phase. In particular, the heat transfer from the flames toward the solid material is computed. Research is performed both in the domain of numerical algorithms and in modeling.
