Project: Understanding the physiological role of endoreduplication in plants

project duration
01-JAN-06 – 31-DEC-09
Endoreduplication or DNA replication without mitosis is widely spread. Often endoreduplication in angiosperms is restricted to specialized cell types, but in many plant species, including Arabidopsis thaliana, polyploidy is observed in various tissues. In our project we aim to study in detail the physiological significance of endoreduplication during plant development. In addition, we aim to identify the signaling cascades controlling the endocycle.
