Abstract

Overexpression of ROS degrading enzymes and treatment with SOD mimetics can prolong life span when it is limited artificially by superoxide generators, but fail to retard ageing in their absence. Hence, we wish to put more efforts in testing alternative hypotheses about ageing, focusing on the role protein of turnover, mitochondrial function and dietary restriction.
