- Phyto-estrogens occur in food and show harmful but also potentially protective effects for the consumers health. In any case should the exposure via the diet be quantified. To that end plant products, containing phyto estrogens should be identified and subsequently their contribution to the total estrogens burden of the individual consumer should be calculated. GC/MS/MS is the technique of choice.
