Project: Analysis of the regulation of life span in Caenorhabditis elegans by mutation oxidative stress and caloric restriction.

01-JAN-02 – 31-DEC-05

This proposal aims to establish (1) how metabolic rate is controlled during the adult life trajectory in the wild type and in longevity mutants (2) how stress, especially oxidative stress, determines life expectancy and how, and to what extent, stress response mechanisms can postpone progression to death (3) how caloric restriction in axenic culture prolongs life span.
