Project: Acceptability of conventional screening through gynaecological examination and of vaccination as preventive measures for cervical cancer

01-OCT-10 – 30-SEP-12

Cervical cancer, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), is responsable for almost 500,000.00 deaths a year most victims live in Sub-Saharan Africa. With the invention of the HPV vaccine, primary prevention became possible, next to secondary prevention techniques. Before implementing large-scale vaccination programmes however, acceptability of the vaccine by the target group needs to be assessed to guarantee high coverage.
