abstract
In this project, the exact role of TNF in polymicrobial sepsis will be studied. We hypothesize that TNF has a double role in sepsis, namely a “good” and a “bad” role and thus that inhibition of TNF leads to no therapeutic results. We believe that specific inhibition of TNFR1 on the relevant cells, combined with a cell-specific targeting of TNF and GC treatment can form the basis of a new therapy for sepsis.
