Project: Anglo-American Modernist Poetry and Music: Ezra Pound, Amy Lowell, Mina Loy and Edith Sitwell

01-OCT-07 – 31-DEC-10

This project examines the importance of music to the work of four Anglo-American modernist poets. It focuses mainly on how music functioned as a critical metaphor and point of comparison in the authors' discussions of their work, and on the ways in which musical forms and genres were incorporated into poems both on the level of content and of form. Attention is paid to both classical and popular music.
