Project: Assessing the potential of coastal lakes and lagoons to record a history of tsunami inundation along tectonically active plate boundaries: a comparative study and establishment of a generally applicable methodology.
- project duration
- 01/10/15 – 30/09/17
- This study focuses on identifying tsunami depostits in coastal lakes within a varying range of geomorphological settings in Chile and Japan. By investigating the recording and preservation potential of tsunami inundation in these lake basins, compared to terrestrial sites, we aim to determine whether one of both archives (land vs lake) is superior to the other, and/or under which conditions.
