Project: Development of novel therapeutics decreasing the viscosity of cystic fibrosis sputum by destroying filamentous actin.

- Chemically synthesized peptides, corresponding with the binding-sites of actin-binding proteins and actin, will be studied with respect of their affinity for G- and F-actin. Using the phage epitope display technology and synthetic combinatorial libraries, we will screen for high affinity peptides. These compounds will form the basis for therapeutics, which will help in removing viscous actin complexes from interstitial fluids.
