Project: The human 5-HT7 receptor: a new link and potential therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease
- project duration
- 01-JAN-05 – 31-DEC-07
- In a search for proteins interacting with the C-terminal end of the human serotonin 5-HT7 receptor we identified the human Amyloid Precursor Protein 1 (APLP1) as a potential interaction partner. This interaction was subsequently confirmed in mammalian cells. This novel interaction points to a potential new link between a member of the serotonin receptor family and Alzheimer’s Disease. In this project we want to investigate the role of this interaction with respect to the signalisation and regulation of the 5-HT7 receptor.
