Project: Evaluation of leptin antagonists for treatment of multiple sclerosis

project duration
01-JAN-05 – 31-DEC-07
The cytokine-type hormone leptin functions as an adipostat that signals the energy status of the body to the brain. It also exerts a regulatory role on several peripheral tissues, influencing immune responses and angiogenesis. This program includes following studies: (1) development of optimised leptin antagonists, (2) analysis of leptin antagonists in murine models for multiple sclerosis, and (3) search for the leptin transporter in the blood brain barrier.
