Project: Energycrops on agricultural lands, contaminated with heavy heavy metals

project duration
01-OCT-06 – 31-MAR-10
This research evaluates the use of bio-energycrops (maize, willow, poplar) with high afifnity for metalaccumulation, as an agricultural alternative, on soils which are historically contaminated with heavy metals in the Campine region. Using these crops there will be, over time, a remediation of the soil (= phytoremediation). Hereby an optimalisation of growth/metaluptake is aimed, and the metalcompartimentalisation will be investigated.
