Project: Diagnosis and prevention of Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium infections in poultry.
- project duration
- 01-NOV-97 – 31-OCT-99
- Development of simple, rapid and sensitive detection methods for direct tracing of Salmonella in litter using flow cytometry, immune dot blot and/or latex agglutination, based on the application of Salmonella specific monoclonal antibodies. An experimental model will be developed for the reproduction of the carrier state and for investigating the role of antibodies in generating a carrier state. The significance of the local cellular immune response will be investigated in relation to the clearance of Salmonella enteritidis from the gut.
