Project: Determination of trace elements by ICP/MS in serum, blood, urine or other materials of patients with degenerative or malignant diseases and of environmentally or occupationally exposed individuals.

- Inductively coupled plasma/mass spectometry (ICP/MS) is a recently developed technique for trace element analysis with hitherto unknown sensitivity and specificity. Previous studies by the investigators (using neutron activation analysis) showed remarkable abnormalities of the metabolism of a number of elements in certain medical diseases. The intention is to enlarge the observations particularly for those trace elements which cannot be determined by neutron activation analysis.
