Project: Intestinal permeability studies by use of non-radioactive sugar absorption.
- project duration
- 01-JAN-95 – 31-DEC-99
- Increased intestinal permeability has been reported in several diseases and after ingestion of ethanol and NSAID. Serial investigations require the use of non-radioactive probes (lactulose and mannitol). In this study, we will perform serial permeability tests in a normal control population and in IBD patients to elucidate the site of absorption (proximal vs distal small intestine), the evolution of the test in IBD patients under treatment and the predictive value of relapse.
