- The wear and material transfer during the fretting process of steel surfaces are measured with the help of Thin Layer Activation (TLA). The influence of the tribological parameters as load, velocity, stroke, surface roughness on the wear and material transfer are investigated. A wear model is proposed that takes the different wear mechanisms (adhesion, abrasion,...) into account. TLA will also be used for the tretting research of coated surfaces and for macroscopie wear processes.
