Project: An explanatory model of the differential evolution of the social structure and of the economic functions in the towns of Flanders and Brabant in the middle ages and the modern times.

01-JAN-00 – 31-DEC-99

The Netherlands knew an intense urbanization from the middle ages up to our days. In those countries, towns developed with a wide range of functions. The aim of this project is the research of the mutations of the economic functions, and the connection with the specific social structures. A second aim will be the analysis of the forms of domination of the hinterland.
