Project: Retinoic acid regulates the function of E-cadherin in human breast cancer cells via insulin-like growth factor I receptor.

abstract
The human breast cancer cells MCF-7/6 are invasive in vitro. The invasion can be inhibited by retinoic acid (RA). R.A. activates the invasion-suppressor E cadherin cathenin/actin complex. A similar result was obtained by adding IGF-I (insuline-like growthfactor I) or the anti-oestrogen Tamoxifen. We are studying the molecular mechanisms of the R.A.-mediated activation of the E-cadherin complex.
