abstract
The oxygenator in the cardio-pulmonary-bypass circuitry is mainly used for the gasexchange in the blood and to regulate the blood temperature. By means of a numerical flow and transport model (for the gasexchange and the heattransfer), one gets a better idea about the hemodynamics of the oxygenator in order to optimize the operational characteristics of the module and to reduce the bio-incompatibility (hemolysis, platelet activation and stasis).
