Project: Embodiment, modesty and moral praxis: women's identity politics among religious-traditionalist minorities

project duration
01-JAN-06 – 31-DEC-08
The focus of this research project is on female religiosity among different religious traditionalist ethnic minorities in West-European multicultural urban contexts (modern Orthodox Jewish women in Antwerp and London and Muslim women involved in pro-hijab activism in Flanders). Through cultural comparative empirical research, the main objective is to determine the implications of religious discourse on and practices of gendered embodiment for theory formation on interculturality.
