Project: Angiotensin II and NF-kB activation: important factors in the expression of beta-chemokines in the inflammatory myopathies, and a potential therapeutic target

01-JAN-05 – 31-DEC-07

The expression of chemokines is essential for the inflammatory response and therefore of importance in the immunopathogenesis of inflammatory myopathy. Chemokine production is transcriptionally regulated in which NF-kB is an important factor. Active NF-kB presents as a imer which can be composed of various subunits. We aim to study the composition, distribution and activity of the NF-kB complex in inflammatory muscle disease and compare with normal skeletal muscle.
