Project: Functional analysis of plant genes induced in nematode feeding cells.

- Plant-parasitic nematodes form feeding sites by a radical cellular reprogramming of plant root cells. Several genes have been identified that show higher expression level in the nematodo feeding cells compared to normal root cells. The aim of this project is to analyse these genes by using the sense and anti-sense strategy. The model system we use is Arabidopsis thaliana with infections by the cyst nematode Heterodera schachtii and the root knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita.
