Project: Identification of cis- and transacting factors involved in cap-independent tranlation in plants : translation regulation of the satellite tobacco necrosis virus RNA.

- The minimal sequence requirements for cap-independent translation of the satellite tobacco necrosis virus (STNV) RNA will be determined. These sequence requirements will be used for (i) identification of cellular messengers with a translational mechanism similar to STNV on the base of sequence homology, and (2) identification of plant-encoded factors that play a role in cap-independent translation on the base of affinity.
