Project: Isolation and characterisation of genes involved in RNA silencing in Arabidopsis thaliana.

project duration
01-OCT-01 – 30-SEP-05
In the first part of the project catalase silenced Arabidopsis thaliana plants with an introduced hairpin construct will be mutagenised once the usefulness of these plants has been shown. The second part of the project comprises the study of the Arabidopsis AGO1 gene, which is involved in PTGS, at the molecular level. This involves the study of the effect of deficiency and overexpression on different aspects of silencing, the subcellular localization and the investigation of a possible role in the regulation of translation.
