Project: Anti-inflammatory effects of two GR-modulators, DEX and CpdA, on fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) isolated from the inflamed synovium of different Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patients

- Glucocorticoids are powerful drugs, acting via the glucocorticoid receptor. Although GC are used in treatment regimens of multiple inflammatory diseases, e.g. RA, their plethora of secondary effects drive current research to develop novel GC-like agents with superior benefit-risk profiles. In this project we compare the molecular mechanisms by which DEX and the new CpdA (De Bosscher, PNAS, 2005) exert their anti-inflammatory effects in a relevant cell system to RA, namely FLS.
