abstract
Study of the tectonic and orographic evolution of Central-Asian mountain belts (Tien-Shan, Altai, Sayan, Transbaikal) using apatite-fission-track (AFT) analysis. This temperature-sensitive datingmethd is based on crystal lattice damage due to 238U-fission, and enables to construct thermochronological models for orogenic regions. Of specific importance are the uplift and denudation processes which are mainly Cenozoic in the area of interest.
