Project: Epithelial-mesenchymal transitions through suppression of E-cadherin functionality due to SIP-1 and mts-1 expression.
- project duration

- E-cadherin is an important invasion and tumor-suppressor protein. Loss of E-cadherin-expression, which appears in different types of tumors, is in some cases due to transcriptional dysregylation. By detailed research of 2 candidate regulators, we want to get a better understanding of the transcriptional regulation of the E-cadherin gene. These 2 regulators are SIP-1 who binds the conserved E-boxes in the E-cadherin promoter and mts-1 for which is demonstrated that its expression causes loss of E-cadherin mRNA expression.
