Project: Identification and characterization of a glutathione-dependent peroxidase in Haemophilus influenzae, an opportunistic pathogen in man.

project duration
01-JAN-01 – 31-DEC-04
This project aims to describe a novel glutathione-dependent detoxification pathway for the human pathogen Haemophilus influenzae in which a unique peroxidase is responsible for the neutralization of destructive hydroperoxides. Besides a kinetic analysis of the peroxidase, we will also investigate its mechanism, its regulation, its three-dimensional structure and the role it plays as a potential virulence factor.
