Abstract

Development of steels with high strenght to construct safety cages for passenger cars. Mechanical properties: tensile strenght: 1200 to 1500MPa, elongation minimum 5%. Application of a new type of heat treatment: quenching of a completely austenitized steel to a temperature between Ms and Mf. Isothermal treatment at a higher temperature: formation of tempered martensite, bainite and retained austenite.
