Project: Biomechanics of vascular access for hemodialysis

- Hemodialysis is a replacement therapy for patients with renal failure. To access the circulation, a vascular access is necessary e.g. by means of a graft between brachial artery and vein. The major problem is stenosis and thrombosis formation in and at the graft-vein connection. The influence of the hemodynamics on the stenosis formation is investigated by means of an in vitro model and computational fluid dynamics.
