Project: Influence of polymers and biocides on biogenic sulfuric acid corrosion of concrete sewer pipes.
- project duration
- 01-OCT-97 – 30-SEP-01
- The corrosion of concrete structures in sewage environments due to biogenic sulfuric acid attack is a major problem in sime areas. The degradation of the concrete is caused by a combination of chemical as well as microbiological reactions. The addition of polymers and/or biocides to the concrete composition can possibly improve the resistance of the concrete sewer pipes to biogenic sulfuric acid corrosion.
