Project: The influence of essential and non-essential metals on the energy metabolism and population dynamics of Daphnia magna Straus (Crustacea: Cladocera): the role of acclimatisation and adaptation.
- project duration
- 01-OCT-97 – 30-SEP-01
- Algae and daphnids, standard organisms for toxicity testing, are studied concerning their acclimatisation/adaptation potential to zinc and cadmium. Natural as well as laboratory populations are investigated on molecular, physiological and population level. Special attention is paid to zinc deficiency and the consequences of acclimatisation on the risk assessment of essential metals.
