Project: Evaluation and utility of milk compounds to support a nutrient based diet formulation and reduce emissions

Aminogenic, glucogenic and ketogenic nutrients are required for the production of milk protein, fat and lactose. However, current energy and protein feed evaluation systems do not make any distinction between these three nutrient groups. In the current research project, odd chain fatty acids in milk are used to provide insight in the nutrient supply in dairy cows at the beginning of their lactation.
