Project: Development and evaluation of a powerful teaching-learning environment for the acquisition of problem-solving skills in mathematics : A study in Chilean primary education.

- The present research project intends to show how the flaws and weaknesses in primary school children's mathematical problem-solving skills can be remedied by designing and implementing a research-based powerful teaching-learning environment for thinking and problem-solving, that offers an alternative for the shortcomings of traditional mathematics education, taking into account the specific cultural context of primary education in Chile. An additional objective is to develop on the basis of the findings and the experiences in this project, proposals and initiatives for pre-service and in-service training of teachers with respect to mathematics teaching.
