The project investigates the interactional language processes that took place during the hearings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa. It focuses on three factors which are bound to have a strong impact on the interlingual interaction and on the interpreting process: the role of institutional discourse, language variation and the linguistic expression of power.
