- Recently slab CO2 lasers have become increasingly recognized as potential sources of high laser power at relatively low cost. Whereas in conventional industrial CO2 lasers a high speed gas flow is applied for cooling, slab lasers are diffusion-cooled devices. The diffusion-cooling approach allows for a compact design and greatly facilitates the integration of the laser in manufacturing machines.
