Project: Epidemiology, genetic predisposition and control of polyparasitism and control of polyparasitism infections humans in Cameroon
- project duration
- 01-MAY-03 – 31-MAR-07
- The main objective of the present project is a better understanding of polyparasitism in humans in endemic countries in order to apply more rational control programmes. To achieve this, we will assess the current levels of prevalence and intensities of multispecies infections (schistosomiasis, intestinal nematode infections an malaria) and determine whether there is a major genetic predisposition to infections by helminths (polyparasitized subject). These genes will be localized in the humane genome, identified and their effect on host defenses will be characterized.
