Project: The partnermethod, an alternative approach for detection and treatment of sexually transmitted infection in pregnant women - Mozambique

project duration
01-APR-02 – 31-MAR-06
Due to a lack of laboratory facilities, diagnosis of Sexually Transmitted Infections is difficult in low income countries. The world Health Organisation promoted therefore the syndromic approach. This approach is not at all efficient in pregnant women. Seen STI cause more symptoms in men, an alternative would therefore be the screening of STI in men, followed by ge treatment of the couple.
