Project: Nutrition support during pregnancy to improve maternal and child health in the district of Houndé, Burkina Faso.

The major hypothesis is that a food supplement covering the extra needs in macro and micro nutrients provided during pregnancy improves bierthweight an subsequent growth of infants. The study is set up as a randomised intervention trial. Participants receive either a macron nutrient supplement with micornutrients as per UNCIEF guidelines or a macronutrient supplement with irion and folic acid. AOutocme parameters are birthweight, IGF-1 status iron parameters and growth in the first year of life.
