Project: Effect of increased atmospheric CO2 concentration on primary productivity and carbon allocation in typical Belgian forest ecosystems.
- project duration
- 01-JAN-00 – 31-DEC-99
- The object of this programme is the study of the greenhouse effect on net CO2 uptake, growth and net primary productivity in deciduous (poplar, oak) and coniferious (Scots pine) forest ecosystems. Measurements in a CO2 enriched and non enriched greenhouse will be compared with measurements on young and adult trees in three typical Belgian forest ecosystems. This way the evolution of the productivity and the carbon cycle will be predicted for a doubled atmospheric CO2 concentration.
