Project: In situ methane oxidation and methane emission from Chinese Rice fields

project duration
01-DEC-04 – 31-DEC-06
The project is a bilateral cooperation between the Laboratory of Applied Physical Chemistry (Ugent, Flanders) and The department of Geography (UCL, Wallonia) and the Key-laboratory of Terrestrial Ecological Processes (Institute of Applied Ecology, Shenyang, China) and the Key-laboratory of Material Cycling in the Pedosphere (Institute of Soil Science, Nanjing, China). The aim of the cooperation is to develop stable isotope techniques to assess in situ methane oxidation in Chinese rice fields and to review the impact of management options on greenhouse gas emissions from Chinese rice fields.
