- Methane is an important greenhouse gas. Soils can mitigate atmospheric methane concentrations through biological oxidation. The results of the bilateral collaboration will provide information that is necessary to elucidate key factors controlling the effect of land use on CH4 oxidation (uptake) by boreal soils. The Russian partner has related to the biogeochemistry of methane oxidation in soils. Ther Russian partner has expertise in microbial ecology of methanotrophic bacteria.
