Project: Elucidating mechanisms of egg contamination by Salmonella Enteritidis: identification of crucial factors for colonization of the reproductive tract in laying hens and contamination of eggs
- project duration
- 01-OCT-08 – 31-JUL-13
- Salmonella Enteritidis is very efficient in contamination of eggs, and this has led to a worldwide pandemic in humans. The exact mechanisms of egg contamination by Salmonella are still unclear. Therefore the projectwill identify, using molecular methods, genes that are specifically involved in oviduct colonization and resistance to egg albumen.
