Project: Investigation of anti-cancer activities of solanoceae -specific withanolides in myeloma

project duration
08-FEB-10 – 01-FEB-12
Solanoceae plants have been used for centuries in ancient medicine to treat inflammation and cancer. We have identified various steroidal withanolides in leaf which have potent anti-cancer activities. In the proposed study, we would like to investigate whether 1) withanolides specifically kill MM cells, but not normal blood cells, from patients with MM and 2) withanolides can inhibit disease progression in a MM mouse model.
