Project: Comparison of clinical pattern, pathomechanisms and impact of superantigens in sinus disease in Asia vs. Europe

2005-04-01 – 2005-09-30

Abstract

a) Comparison of clinical patterns and inflammatory pathomechanisms in polyp and rhinosinusitis patients from Asia vs. Europe: analysis of T-cell pattern, cytokines and growth factors. B) Studies on the presence of superantigen-induced immune reactions in Asian polyps (presence of intracellular Staph. Aureus, superantigen-induced polyclonal T/B-cell response, spec. IgE immune response). C) Demonstration of active enterotoxin production by Staph. Aureus (by in-situ hybridisation) in tissue samples from different sinus diseases and asthma.
