Project: Does the quality of an MP matter? Understanding the causes and consequences of differences in the quality of parliamentary work.

Abstract

We assess the meaning of the quality of parliamentary work for MPs. First we propose a tool to measure this quality. Afterwards we scrutinize the factors that could have an impact on it and how quality affects the chances to get re-elected. We look at Flemish (2009-2014), Walloon (2009-2014) and federal (2010-2014) MPs who were candidate for the 2014 elections.
