Project: GROUP-ID Consortium: Ghent Researchers on Unfolded Proteins in Inflammatory Disease: towards an understanding of ER stress in inflammatory diseases
01/05/10 – 30/04/17
Endoplasmic reticulum stress is caused by an accumulation of misfolded proteins due to (amongst others) point mutations, viral infections or metabolic stress. ER stress is seen as en endogenus danger signal sufficient to drive inflammation. Within our consortium different research groups study the role of ER stress in chronic inflammatory diseases like lung diseases, reumatoid arthritis, colitis etc.
